Belize Project:  As a part of their unit on Communities, our third graders have adopted a school in Belize and will be taking donations of

¯ school supplies

¯ new and gently used children's books

¯ playground balls

¯ jump ropes

¯ fans

¯ clorox wipes

¯ first aid kits

¯ hand sanitizer

¯ air pumps

¯ Money

 

Monetary donations will be used to pay for shipping and to buy math kits for the classes in Belize. For more information please see Mr. Knott’s voicethread on his blog page or go to WCPSS website.  We hope you will pitch in and help our 3rd graders on this amazing project.

Caps for a Cure

 

Students are allowed to wear their favorite cap to school on Friday Nov 6th by simply donating $1!  Send in your $1 any day this week and they can wear their caps on Friday!

 

Heifer International - Congratulations Joyner…we raised almost $400 to buy a Water Buffalo for a village in Nepal through Heifer International.  Our goal was to raise $250, the cost of one water buffalo.   With the additional funds, we purchased a GOAT!!  Thanks JOYNER students, parents and staff!!

JOYNER’S NEW BELL SCHEDULE!  In order for teachers to meet regularly to collaborate and discuss ways to improve individual student academic performance, the 2009-10 bell schedule provides weekly one hour early dismissal on Wednesdays for all students.   Joyner will release at 2:00 pm on Wednesdays. 

 

Our new bell schedule will be:

Doors Open                                 7:50 am

Start of Classes                         8:20 am

Wednesdays Dismissal                2:00 pm

Dismissal (M, T, Th, F)               3:00 pm

 

Early Release Wednesdays:  There are six Early Release Wednesdays this year.  On Early Release Wednesdays, Joyner will release at 12:30 pm.   Our teachers will use the six 2.5 hour sessions for school-wide faculty professional development.  Our Early Release Wednesdays are:

 

Dismissal September 23            12:30 pm

Dismissal October 21                 12:30 pm

Dismissal December 2                12:30 pm

Dismissal February 3                  12:30 pm
